Description

I spotted this chap burrowing into a rotten tree trunk. Out-of-shot is a hole he can fit most of his body into. He would fly off with a beakful of sawdust then come back and have another burrow. Sharpened, colour enhanced, and brightened. May 2012.

How did you get the background like that? Lovely photo by the way - the bird's expression is wonderful and you captured him and the trunk perfectly.
